The Trouble with Harry
This is my first post on my new blog. Let me tell you what this blog is going to be all about. First off I am trying to watch all of the AFI top 100 movies of all time before this year is over. Going into the challenge I had seen 46 of them when I started.
Also both last year and this year I am seeing all of the Best Picture nomonees before the show happens.
The first movie I am actually going to talk about is "The Trouble With Harry". I have decided also to go back and watch all the Hitchcock movies I have that I haven't seen. This was the first one that I decided to start with.
This movie made me happy from the beginning. I watched the first few frames and said to myself that is the Beaver. Jerry Mathers from Leave it to Beaver. The suspense was ok, I felt that the movie premise was a bit repetitive however. There was a bit of the same thing over and over which was trying to be masked as comedy. There were a few suspenseful things that never panned out was when the door kept opening, you thought it was a ghost the whole time, and then you realize that it is just a creaky door.
One thing I was caught by surprise about was that it was Shirley McLaine's first movie She was so sweet and innocent. It was nice to see her at the beginning of her career.
Overall I liked the movie. It held up as a Hitchcock film. It is not one of my favorites of his but all of his usual methods were used so that was good to see. I would recommend it to anyone who was on a mission to see all of his movies, not one I would start off with.
Until Next Time
